1927 would be a magical year for the Yankees. With an incredible 109-45 record and a World Series sweep of the Pirates, little did the team know then that even 90 years later, they would be considered one of the best - if not the best - of all time. The team was led by the powerful bats of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig & Tony Lazzeri, and boasted the superb pitching of Waite Hoyt, Herb Pennock, and Urban Shocker. This unique offering is an Official American League (Johnson) sphere, featuring stars from the team, including: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Bob Shawkey, Myles Thomas, Wilcy Moore, and Mark Koenig. With seven signatures total gracing the ball, it is the adjacent signatures of Ruth and Gehrig on the south panel that are truly special. Overall in fair condition with scuffing and dark toning across the ball. The signatures are legible with only light fading, and they appear to have been placed on the ball after the soiling, making it a likely game used sphere. A tough grouping from one of the Yankees most historic teams, especially with Ruth and Gehrig's signatures displaying beautifully alongside each other on the same panel!
