The year 1920 would serve as one of the most important in not only MLB history, but Yankee history as well. Babe Ruth would be sent from the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees in trade, one that is still questioned to this day. Essentially ending Ruth's pitching career, the Yankees thought it to be best that he focus on hitting, and boy did that work out. Relics from Ruth's early days with the Yankees and Red Sox are extremely rare given he wasn't yet at super-star status. This tremendous offering embodies a youthful Babe Ruth signature on the sweet spot by Ruth during his humble start with the club that would mold his career, the New York Yankees. A desirable set of quotations has been carefully placed around the name "Babe", a key indicator to an early career signature! In black ballpoint the, "Babe Ruth" autograph has stood the test of time on this off-white Official National League (Heydler) sphere. Overall in fine condition, the ball has a light coat of shellack that has chipped off in small spots, and shows signs of toning from age and some turf scuffs throughout. None of this affects The Babe's superb signature. Authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA) with a full letter of authenticity. Please note that per the JSA letter, there is evidence of light cleaning on the south panel, but there does not appear to be evidence of any kind of removal.
