The Beatles' rise to prominence in the United States in 1964 & 1965 was a significant development in the history of the band's commercial success. In addition to establishing the Beatles' international stature, it changed attitudes to popular music in the U.S. Their first visit in February 1964 was advertised across the United States on 5 million posters. It was a defining moment in Beatles history, and the starting point of the British Invasion. After their initial visit, they would tour the U.S. three more times—in August of 1964, '65, and '66—the extent of the complete band's time in the U.S.

This incredible U.S. $1 bill was signed during one of those early visits to America by all four Beatles—John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison & Ringo Starr—on the George Washington side in blue ballpoint pen. This is an extraordinarily unique piece, the first of its kind that we have ever seen surface. The only other U.S. bill we have ever seen signed by the group also included signature of DJ Murray the K, a New York DJ who championed the Beatles during this period, and went for auction on eBay for $21,000. Imagine the value of a bill without the additional signature, such as this one! The bill has typical monetary handling wear and is in overall very good to fine condition, with bold and legible ballpoint signatures from the Fab Four. A fantastic piece of Americana straight from the British Invasion! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett/BAS Authentication.
