Sonny Liston showed the boxing world that he was indeed the top heavyweight when he floored Floyd Patterson on July 22, 1963. Three knockdowns in the opening round spelled the end of the line for Patterson. This victory would lead Liston to taking on a young Cassius Clay - and we all know what happened after that. This ticket stub was used for press admission to Liston's first round win over Patterson. And there's a bonus - a rather large one. Cassius Clay - the future Muhammad Ali - himself signed the reverse of the ticket in 9/10 blue ballpoint. This assures us that Clay was in attendance that fateful day. Little did he know what would come to be when he took on Liston just six months later, as this fight paved the way to Ali eventually becoming the G.O.A.T. The stub is torn in half and shows moderate handling wear and creasing. The perferation of the ticket vertically intersects the "C" of "Cassius". Despite any physical flaws, Clay's early autograph stands in mint condition and the historical significance of this piece cannot be overstated! Accompanied by a f ull Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
