David Ortiz played his final regular season game on October 2nd, 2016, ending his career with an incredible 541 home runs and three World Series titles with the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox combined. Unlike most sluggers, "Big Papi" maintained tremendous output until his very last game, finishing his final season with 38 home runs and leading the American League in RBI, doubles, and slugging percentage. Like the man himself, Ortiz game used bats have become a collector favorite over the years. Once he became a member of the 500 Home Run Club in 2015, the gregarious slugger became a necessary component to any collection founded on the exclusive group. Sprinkle in the fact that Ortiz helped break the "Curse of the Bambino" by helping bring three World Series titles to Boston, and one could say that his gamers have a lot going for them. It is highly likely that he will become the first designated hitter to make it into the Hall of Fame. Offered here is a Marucci Papi34 Custom Cut III David Ortiz model bat used by Big Papi during his final season in 2016, during the September 4 match-up against the Oakland A's. The bat displays a crack in the handle and shows outstanding use, with checking from repeated ball contact scattered across the barrel and a layer of neon tape wrapped around the handle. His number, 34, has been stamped onto the end of the handle. Big Papi has gone onto sign the barrel of the bat in silver felt tip marker, adding the inscription "Game Use 2016 Final Season". Authenticated by MLB with their hologram affixed. Also accompanied by a COA from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS) for the signature.
