Offered here is a rare & desirable April 1st, 1963 Cleveland Browns Football Company payroll check to collegiate star Ernie Davis for a sum of $50 dollars. Davis was diagnosed with leukemia in the summer of 1962, and died less than a year later at age 23, without ever playing in a professional game. Despite the bleak diagnosis, the Browns would see things through till the end for Davis, which would come less than two months following the issue date of this check, making this one of the final items signed by the 61 Heisman winner. This check is fully authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the autograph receiving the desirable grade of MINT 9.
