Grover Cleveland Alexander started out his career with some of the most incredible stats the game has ever seen. Amassing 373 wins throughout his career and stringing together three of the greatest successive pitching seasons in Major League history from 1915-1917, Alexander is considered one of the greatest pitchers to ever take the mound. Unfortunately, in WWI, a shell exploded close enough to him to trigger a life-long battle with epilepsy. Hampered by this disorder throughout the rest of his career, combined with bouts of alcoholism, the Hall of Fame hurler often showed the symptoms and effects of both and was usually left alone in his despair, as few could determine exactly which ailment was taking control. Perhaps a product of these woes, Alexander kept conversation and personal interaction to a minimum. It is no surprise, then, that single signed spheres by him are very few and far between. Despite his ailments, one thing was for certain: the man could pitch! Offered here is an ULTRA-RARE Spalding Official League baseball signed by Grover Cleveland Alexander in black steel tip pen right smack dab in the middle of the sweet spot. These seldom seen collectibles are one of the most sought-after baseballs in existence, and this particular example is the first we have ever had the pleasure of offering. The autograph and stamping both stand strong still, and the ball itself exhibits even toning and wear to be expected with a baseball of its age. While any autograph from Alexander is rare, this particular example is unmatched! Authenticated by both PSA/DNA & James Spence Authentication (JSA) with full Letters of Authenticity.
