George Washington's contribution to the foundation of the United States of America cannot be overstated. Something else that can't be overstated is the rarity and investment potential of his autograph. With virtually everything bearing his penmanship being absorbed by museums and institutions, Washington's signature has been elevated to the mythical status that it so properly deserves. With that said, we are proud to present this ultra-rare handwritten 7.5" x 9.25" letter, dated from Mount Vernon on November 18th, 1799, just weeks prior to the legendary American's passing. The letter itself is written to Captain Wiley and goes over some of Washington's time as a land surveyor and the difficulty he had establishing what the boundaries should be for the now historic Mount Vernon site. Signed at the conclusion in superbly dark black ink with a desirable "G.O Washington" signature style. Overall the letter itself stands in good condition, having horizontal & vertical separations only being kept by the vintage frame which features a crack in the back glass portion. Without question one of the latest letters we have ever handled & easily one of the boldest! History collectors take notice! Authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA) with a full letter of authenticity.
