Offered here is a unique piece of Rock N' Roll history! Guns N' Roses would release "dual" albums on September 17th, 1991 in "Use Your Illusion I," and "Use Your Illusion II," to immediate success. With such unforgettable hits as 'November Rain,' 'Don't Cry,' and 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door," Guns N' Roses would see their critical success come full circle being nominated for 'Favorite Artist, Heavy Metal/Hard Rock' category at the 1992 American Music Awards. On January 27th, 1992, MC Hammer would announce the winner, "Guns N' Roses" with star member Slashing coming up to accept the award. Handed between the two legends was this 4.5" x 14.5" x 4.5" black base "Favorite Artist, Heavy Metal/Hard Rock," American Music Award which was then secured by Slash as his own personal keepsake.
Accompanied by a letter of provenance from collector Gary Greenberg, in part: "The Guns N' Roses AMA award pictured here was sold to me back in 2012 by Slash's personal bodyguard Ron Stalnaker. Ron was given the award by Slash who was known to gift awards and such to close friends and business associates…It is one of five made. One for each of the GNR band members." Also includes copies of email correspondence related to the award, including Stalnaker's description of Slash's propensity for generosity: "One thing about awards and Slash. If he was given one and you were standing next to him, it was yours. I got a few awards that way…Most of the time, I got his awards when the office would call and say 'Get these damn awards out of here.'" Overall in fine condition, showing light use/wear. A superb, iconic award from the personal collection of the legendary heavy metal guitarist!
