Henry Koerner was a painter and graphic designer known for his Magical Realist works of the late 1940s and his portrait covers for Time Magazine between 1955 to 1967. Because Koerner refused to work from photographs, sitters such as John F. Kennedy posed for many hours for their portraits. This method gave their likenesses an immediacy meant to outdo photographs, which were increasingly featured on Time's covers. Offered here is a print of Kennedy's portrait as a Senator, painted by Koerner and featured on the December 1957 cover of the magazine. This particular print measures 6" x 7". Kennedy has signed the lower border with a nearly completely legible "John F. Kennedy" autograph and an unknown inscription. Dated September 22, 1958. In fine condition, authenticated & encapsulated by Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
