The 6th President of the United States wrote this note, dated July 27, 1830, to his son Charles, reading (in part): "...I enclose a Power to you to Sign for me a Petition for a meeting of the Stockholders of the State Bank...". For unknown reasons, a collector took it upon himself to excise a portion of the text of the letter an affix the closing an signature at the bottom. Mounting remains on the reverse, with a light glue stain where the document was glued together. Otherwise in very good condition, with a great "Your father, J. Q. Adams" closing. Authenticated & encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
