Offered here is a One Pound note from the Japanese Government signed by "The Duke" in black ballpoint pen. The dates "Feb 6, 1944" and "January 28, '44" have been written in another hand, although seem to indicate the time of signing - ironically, at the height of tensions between America and Japan. 30 years later, when Emperor Hirohito would visit the United States in 1975, his one request would be to meet John Wayne - the symbolic representative of Japan's former enemy. This represents a unique signed medium for the international influence. In fine condition with some vertical folds which have been minimized by encapsulation. The note has been authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA) and encapsulated by Beckett Grading Services (BGS).
John Wayne Signed Japanese Currency Note c. 1944 (JSA/BGS Encapsulated)
