ALS, four pages on one adjoining sheet of “The Eisenhower Farms” stationary, 5.75” x 7.75,” dated February 19, 1969 from Gettysburg, Penn. The long letter, handwritten in black felt tip marker by the first lady, and signed at the conclusion, “Mamie Eisenhower,” reads in part: “Spent luncheon other day at The White House. Pat called me as Julie and David were there and ‘twas my opportunity to see them…went to see Ike yesterday and he is so thin. This last attack made him lose weight again---140 lbs now. He is so interested in all the goes on. Right now he is so upset about Ray Bliss.” Ike’s grandson David married Nixon’s daughter Julie; the Bliss mentioned here was the Chairman of the Republican National Committee. An uncommonly lengthy bit of correspondence from the first lady Eisenhower. In fine condition. Accompanied by a Beckett/BAS LOA.
