Rare & Desirable "Animals" Album Showcasing An Example of the Infamous Waters-Gilmour Strife!
Animals is the tenth studio album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, It was self-produced at Pink Floyd's Britannia Row Studios in London throughout 1976. The album continued the long-form compositions that made up their previous works, including Wish You Were Here (1975).
Animals is both a progressive rock album and a concept album, focusing on the social-political conditions of mid-1970s Britain, and was a change from the style of Pink Floyd's work. Tension within the band during production culminated in keyboardist Richard Wright's being fired two years later. The album's cover, conceived by the band's bassist and lead songwriter Roger Waters and designed by long-time collaborator Storm Thorgerson, shows an inflatable pig floating between two chimneys of Battersea Power Station--now iconic imagery associated with the band.
Offered here is an "Animals" Album Cover that has been personally signed by Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Richard Wright of Pink Floyd. What is interesting to note about this cover is that it showcases the turmoil that followed the band after the making of this album. Obtained in-person back in the late 1980s/early 1990s, one can see that Waters initially signed the album, and then upon seeing Gilmour's signature, decidedly scribbled out his name, only before begrudgedly re-signing again. There is a pattern of Waters doing this on a few Floyd albums that have made it to marker, and showcase the well-documented strained dynamic of the Waters-Gilmour relationship.
