Babe Ruth was almost certainly the most prolific signer in baseball history, so it is not surprising that a number of unusual pieces bearing his autograph exist today. Offered here is one such item: a vintage cigarette case signed by Ruth on the reverse. This was obviously not the most conducive writing surface for a fountain pen and as a result Ruth's signature is now more etched than signed into the gold-plated surface, but it remains clearly legible. The cigarette holder, which also functions as a lighter, bears the initials "MJB" on the front. The manufacturer's name, "Ronson," is engraved on the interior. The case (3" x 4.5" x .5" inches) is heavily worn, displaying a few areas of abrasion and a number of moderate scratches. In Very Good condition overall. Accompanied by an Auction House Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
