Though Cobb was often reported as a stern father at best, and abusive at worst, he turned over a new leaf late in life as he assumed the role of an adoring grandfather, rescuing the youngsters from the type of abuse that the legendary ballplayer had taught his own children through his actions. The Cobb grandchildren reported summers at Lake Tahoe with the aging Georgia Peach as some of the fondest memories of their childhoods, and this relic is a souvenir of one of those summers. Applied to a side panel, in the reigning Hit King's standard green ink, is applied the inscription, "To 'Kit' Cobb from Grandfather Ty Cobb, 7/24/55." The writing averages 8/10. Non-official ball is lightly toned with some minimal signs of handling. A particularly intriguing Cobb single with family provenance. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
