Prior to Neil Armstrong conquering the monumental task as being the first man on the Moon, he was breaking the sound barrier in the X-15 jet. The X-15 set speed and altitude records in the 1960s, reaching the edge of outer space and returning with valuable data used in aircraft and spacecraft design, many times with Armstrong behind the controls. To this day, the X-15 has the official world record for the highest speed ever reached by a man-powered aircraft. Its maximum speed was 4,520 mph, or a blistering Mach 6.72. Offered here is an ultra-rare single signed 8" x 10" black & white original NASA space photo signed by X-15 pilot Neil Armstrong in blue felt tip marker. Overall in fine condition with mild surface impressions. Stamped on the back by NASA with the tag of "Immediate Release" to the press. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
