President George H.W. Bush, a devoted sports fan, invited baseball greats Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams to the White House on July 9, 1991. The President’s intention was to honor these legendary players for their stellar achievements during the pre-World War II 1941 Season. Joe DiMaggio hit in 56 consecutive games and the incredible Ted Williams hit .406 during that incredible season. No professional baseball players, in 75 years, have come remotely close to Breaking either of these seemingly unobtainable records. While DiMaggio had been awarded this honor by Gerald Ford in 1977, President Bush awarded Ted Williams the highest civilian honor that day - the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Offered here is an 11" x 14" photo of Bush, DiMaggio, and Williams at the podium, signed on the bottom border by all three historic men. A unique offering, made even better by the custom matting and framing to a total size of 20.5" x 21.5". Photo is overall in fine condition and frame is excellent! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Steve Grad/Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
