Abraham Lincoln's successor, Andrew Johnson, was one of the shortest Presidencies in U.S. history. Sadly, due to reconstruction policies, Johnson was impeached shortly after being named President. His reign in the public light was short & filled with a country in peril after losing its mostly beloved leader. For this reason among others, signed cabinet and CDV images are considered an extreme rarity, being a highly expensive process at the time. Offered here is a 2.25" x 4" uncommon image of Johnson as President, signed on the lower border in bold black steel tip ink. Overall well-preserved and in fine condition with very minor spots of toning, mainly on the reverse. The reverse also displays the copyright stamp for Brady's National Photographic Portrait Galleries. The incredible signature has been graded GEM MINT 10 and the photo and autograph have been authenticated & encapsulated by Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
