One was a boisterous playboy, the other a quiet introvert, but they shared a preternatural gift for the long ball and three World Championship celebrations during their fruitful partnership. It's the most essential "duo" ball in the collecting hobby, and this particular model appears to date to the final season of their pinstriped pairing, the only year they used an OAL (Harridge) ball with single-tone stitching prior to Ruth's departure for the Boston Braves in 1935. The Babe takes up his standard sweet spot position in black fountain pen ink (5/10), with Gehrig a point or two superior at the eastern panel. The ball exhibits general handling wear but presents nicely. A fine relic memorializing the end of a special era in the Bronx, and a true Ruth/Gehrig combo ball, which is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after selections in the market. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Dual-Signed OAL Baseball c. 1934 (PSA/DNA)
