This original, engraved document is printed on a high quality parchment paper and measures approx. 23.5" x 25.5" when framed. It is dated January 12, 1903 and appoints Alfred D. Smith to be a Notary Public in Washington, D.C. The document is boldly signed at the lower right hand corner - "Theodore Roosevelt" and is also signed by John K. Richards as Acting Attorney General. There is an affixed, embossed paper seal of the United States Justice Department at the lower left hand corner. The parchment sheet is clean and crisp. One of the nicest - if not the nicest - Roosevelt documents we have ever seen, with little to no flaws to speak of. Framed and matted beautifully, with some handling wear to the frame. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
