Rocky Marciano, born Rocco Marchegiano, is perhaps the most well-known heavyweight boxing champion in history, with his legendary status today resting on the fact that he remains the only heavyweight champion ever to retire undefeated. Marciano won the heavyweight title from Jersey Joe Walcott in 1952 and successfully defended that title six times before retiring in 1955 with a record of 49-0 (43 by knockout). Unfortunately, Marciano died tragically at the age of 46 in a plane crash. Offered here is an exceptionally rare 8" x 10" sepia photograph of Maricano in the training gym, signed by the champ in blue ballpoint pen "Best wishes, Rocky Marciano". The original photograph exhibits moderate handling wear, specifically with pieces of tape remaining around the corners and edges. Marciano signed photographs are rare in any form, and this one featuring a young Rocky in training is especially desirable! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
