In January 1998, one of the biggest political scandals in recent history was revealed - a potential affair between President Bill Clinton and White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Clinton denied the allegations for months, with his wife, Hillary, standing by his side through it all. On July 28, 1998, Lewinsky (who had previously refused to testify) received transactional immunity in exchange for grand jury testimony concerning her relationship with Clinton. On August 17th of that year, Clinton admitted in a grand jury testimony that he had engaged in an "improper physical relationship" with Lewinsky. This letter, written on White House letterhead just 7 days before Lewinsky's immunity was granted and less than a month before his admission before court, puts Hillary, once again, directly by her husband's side. Reads, in full, "Hillary joins me in wishing you the very best on your birthday, and we hope the year ahead is filled with joy and good health. I look forward to continue our work together to ensure a brighter future for our nation." Signed at the conclusion in blue ink, "Bill Clinton". Addressed to Ohio Representative Bob Ney, the content of the letter upholds the strength of one of Washington's most major power couples of the late 20th and early 21st century. In fine condition. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
