Partly-printed vellum document, signed “James Monroe” as president and “John Quincy Adams” as Secretary of State, one page, 11” x 15”, November 18, 1818. Patent document issued to for Abraham Taylor for inventing "a mode of propelling boats, called the Columbian Principle." In good condition, moderate wrinkling and creasing, scattered toning, one vertical and one horizontal fold, pages describing the patent bound together by ribbon, all of which does not affect the document's strong signatures and fine appearance. Original wafer seal is fully intact and present. Documents showcasing a full signature from Adams (who typically shortened his middle name with a simple ‘Q.’ designation) are scarce! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Steve Grad/Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
