Scarce portion of a free frank, measuring 2" x 5" and stamped "FREE" next to the flourishing signature "J. Adams". Also bears postal markings above Adams' signature, just intersecting with the top of his first initial. A choice signature from a Founding Father and the 2nd President of the United States, much more seldom seen than his son John Quincy Adams' signature, which are rare in themselves. In fine condition with some foxing, a rough top edge, and one vertical crease. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
