William Henry Harrison was the 9th President of the United States, perhaps best known for serving the shortest tenure in United States presidential history, having contracted pneumonia at his inauguration and dying just 31 days into his term. This free frank, dating to Harrison's time as a Representative for Ohio's 1st district (20th March 1817), has been executed completely in Harrison's hand to John Reily Esq. of Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio, with his "Free, William H. Harrison" autograph to the top right. Several vertical and horizontal folds are present, as well as a red wax seal, from its journey through the delivery system. A square of paper loss from the wax seal being torn is present at the top. In overall fine condition with handling wear and toning, especially at the creases. Regardless, this is the first free frank we have ever seen from the elusive 9th President! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
