This is an October 1998 Playboy Magazine (Cindy Crawford as the cover girl) proof book that has been personally signed by Hugh Hefner. This is a very rare item, as only two of these brown books were made for each issue: one for the lead art director and one for Hugh Hefner. The lead art director of this issue was Tom Staebler. Hef would review his copy, make changes he deemed necessary, and then call the art director, who would go over the changes on the phone with him. This copy was Hef's c opy! He signed the front cover in black felt tip marker. The books is made from hand cut butcher paper, bound together by hand using string, with printouts of the layout taped inside. The front features alternate versions of the cover taped on top of one another. Pages where ads will appear in the final edition are often blank, representing ads to be sold. The book measures 15" x 11" x 3". Hef used to carry these books around with him for a month, so it has some wear, but is in overall great condition. An awesome Playboy collectible! Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
