The image of the Beatles on the crossing has become one of the most famous and imitated in recording history. The front cover design, a photograph of the group traversing a zebra crossing, was based on sketched ideas by Paul McCartney and taken on 8 August 1969 outside EMI Studios on Abbey Road. Aside from being one of the most successful albums released by the Beatles, Abbey Road was also one of the most controversial, giving way to the famed "Paul is Dead" urban legend as a result of McCartney's barefooted appearance in the cover photo. Luckily Paul was not dead, and in fact alive and well enough to beautifully sign his name across the cover of this album pressing of the famed record in blue felt tip marker. The album stands in overall fine condition with some handling wear to the edges and corners. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
