This ship's passport document, dated September 29, 1802, has been signed by not one, but two founding fathers - President Thomas Jefferson and his Secretary of State (and future President) James Madison. Written in four languages, as was the custom at the time, the document has wear along the border and some paper loss on the edges but is displayed with an ideal mat and frame, providing for still outstanding eye appeal. The document was issued to James Webb of New York to sail his vessel, "The Maryland", to London with ashes, cotton, crackers and other such supplies. The document is framed to a total size of 27.5" x 32". Dual-signed documents by these two historical figures are rare! See images for details on condition. Accompanied by full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
