Ty Cobb was legendary for his aggressive playing style and penchant for fighting, although much of the negative personality has been discredited as mostly myth, particularly that which was related to racism. Several of Cobb's family members were abolitionists, he was known to attend Negro League games (even throwing out a first pitch and sitting in the dugout), supported integration in baseball, and endowed educational scholarships for students of all races.

In the wonderful single signature specimen offered here, the Georgia Peach boldly adorns a side panel in steel-tip black fountain pen. The inaugural member of the exclusive 4,000-hit club, Cobb set ninety Major League records when he played, many of which still stand, including most batting titles (twelve) and highest career batting average (.367). Unquestionably a top ten player, Cobb's standing in baseball lore assures that his artefacts will remain in demand and continue to grow in value.

While the ball has browned through use and age, and the stamping is no longer visible, the experts at PSA/DNA have graded the autograph a 9, assuring this exemplar as one of the more desirable Cobb singles in the hobby. Accompanied by a Letter of Grading & Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
