The 1996 Topps Kobe Bryant is a heavily collected card and arguably Kobe's most recognizable rookie. What many collectors may not realize is it's not his only card from this set. To honor the NBA's 50th anniversary, Topps released in tandem a series of foil-based versions of the Topps rookie featuring the same design, except with an NBA 50 logo and foil surface. And, unlike the ultra expensive Bowman Chromes, this dazzling card does not oxidize over time and possesses great color. This example is graded a solid MINT 9. While there are almost 10,000 examples of the regular Topps issue graded, with 5,130 graded MINT 9, this desirable variation comes from a pool of 600 graded, with a mere 237 grading MINT 9. A great design, iconic player and surprisingly low population make this a great Mamba investment!
