Just two and a half weeks after the Babe smashed three home runs in Game Four of the World Series to complete a sweep of the National League Champion St. Louis Cardinals, he and his sidekick Lou Gehrig were back on the “Bustin' Babes vs. Larrupin' Lous” barnstorming trail that they had begun a season earlier following yet another dominant October. Several of these "Harwood's National League Ball" models from that celebrated tour have been seen in the market, so our suspicion is that these are the balls that were likely utilized in those exhibition games. Ruth's sweet spot offering is just a hair short of utter perfection, rating a bona fide “9” between the red and blue stitching that perfectly mimics OAL balls of the day. Gehrig is almost equally brilliant, rating a solid “8” and wonderfully bold and positioned so that both signatures could be displayed simultaneously. The handwritten date on lower panel is inked by an unknown party, almost certainly the original owner of this important high-grade relic. As the hobby has come to recognize, true dual signed Ruth and Gehrig baseballs are extraordinarily rare. Typically if the duo signed a baseball, it usually included other Yankees teammates. And of those select few true dual signed baseballs to survive, few match this vintage gem in signature strength and visual appeal. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
