His name is synonymous with pitching excellence and his career tally of 511 Major League victories is the most untouchable in American sports. The first-ballot Hall of Famer was 75 years of age when he signed this driver's license, utilizing the very rare and highly coveted "Denton T. Young" autograph variation (his full legal name!). His black fountain pen ink rates 9/10 and the 2.75" x 3.75" license exhibits edge wear from its time in the legendary pitcher's wallet, but no other flaws of consequence. The license originally sourced from the grandson of Charles Leech, Sr., a fellow member of Young's local Elk's Club lodge. Accompanied by incredible provenance, included in the lot are photocopies of a newspaper article that pictures the lodge brothers together, as well as a photocopy of a letter Young wrote in support of his friend's candidacy for postmaster of Newcomerstown (Young's hometown). Also accompanied by a full Letter of Grading & Authenticity from PSA/DNA for Young's NM-MT 8 signature, and a full Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
