2001 Drew Brees Rookie Worn Helmet - Extensively Photo-Matched to Multiple Games including NFL Debut and First Career Touchdown Pass!

In the realm of football, everything boils down to the almighty touchdown. They are what fans crave, they are what define careers--they are the lifeblood of the sport.

In 2001 when the San Diego Chargers chose Drew Brees in 2nd round of the NFL draft, many had hopes that the explosive playmaker from Purdue would shape to become a solid starter in the NFL. Many had doubts too, citing Brees height and arm strength among other criticisms. Fast-forward 19 years, and Brees has put together a legendary career that even the greatest optimist would have ever envisioned. As of the launch of this auction with at least one more season set in his sight, Brees holds perhaps the most coveted record in all of football, standing supreme as the NFL's all-time career touchdown leader, notching a total of 547 career TDs. Brees is what Hank Aaron (or Barry Bonds) was to baseball; he is what Wayne Gretzky is to Hockey; he what Kareem Abdul Jabbar is to basketball--he is among the greatest of the greats.

That all being considered, we are proud and honored to present what we consider one of the most historically significant helmets in NFL history. Offered here is a Riddell official San Diego Chargers 2001 helmet that was personally game worn by Drew Brees himself throughout the course of the 2001 NFL season, and was specifically worn by the living legend during his very first NFL start, which led to his very first NFL touchdown pass. One of the single greatest careers in sports history all started under this helmet.

As expected, this helmet showcases excellent use, including a number of scuffs and wear on the protective shell and perspiration staining on the inner padding. All proper identifiers are present, including Brees' custom chin strap with "9" decal along the straps and Brees' number 9 decal on the back of the helmet along with the American flag commemorative 9/11 decal.

Provenance on this gridiron relic is superb, and comes in the form of multiple photomatches. Resolution Photomatching Services have provided a detailed Letter of Authenticity that confirms that the helmet was worn in multiple games, including a 10/28/2001 game against the Buffalo Bills (Brees did not play and served as the backup) and the all-important November 4, 2001 game against the Chiefs, where Brees made his NFL debut and threw his first career NFL touchdown pass. Real Game Used Authentication Services has further photomatched the helmet to an August 25, 2001 preseason game as well. Lastly, Photo Match Grading & Authentication, Inc. has also provided their Letter of Authenticity to confirm the helmet's authenticity. Essentially, every industry-recognized authenticator of game worn helmets have confirmed the game usage and authenticity of this amazing piece.

An amazing piece of history and a tremendous investment opportunity--football collectors take notice!
