Collectors will have to look far and wide to find a 1968 Cardinals team-signed baseball as nice as this one. This snow white Spalding Official National League (Giles) ball holds twenty-five (25) dark blue ballpoint signatures from the team which won the National League pennant. In addition to winning the National League, this team showcased one of the greatest seasons EVER for a pitcher with Bob Gibson's astounding Cy Young and MVP-winning performance along with the final appearance of the great Roger Maris. Headed up skipper Red Schoendiesnt and HOFer Orlando Cepeda on the sweet spot, other signers include: Curt Flood, Bob Gibson (signed twice), Lou Brock, Roger Maris, Bob Tolan, Nelson Briles, Joe Hoerner, Ray Washburn, Mike Shannon, Mike Granger (only year with Cardinals), Tim McCarver, Dick Schofield, Del Maxvill, Dick Hughes, Steve Carlton, Johnny Edwards, Ron Davis, Mel Nelson, Julian Javier, Phil Gagliano and Ed Spiezio. With each signature meticulously placed on the clean white sphere, one would imagine that a ball of this quality may have been acquired by a player or a team executive given the quality and control of the signatures. The visual appearance is so impressive that while PSA/DNA has graded the signatures and ball at "8", they have given the ball collectively a half-point bump on the collective grade as a result of the exceptional quality, with the overall grade rendered at NM-MT+ 8.5. A memorable team and exceptional quality--the perfect combination! Accompanied by a Letter of Grading & Authenticity by PSA/DNA.
