Simply put, Willie Mays is one of the best baseball players to ever step between the chalk, amassing 660 home runs while leading a team to greater pastures from New York to San Francisco. During his playing days, and even after, Willie Mays was a reluctant signer, making playing-era relics very desirable. Offered here is a beautiful Official National League (Giles) baseball signed in blue ballpoint pen on the side panel by Willie Mays with an EXTREMELY early (c. 1950s) and completely legible autograph. Mays also added the rare inscription, "(Giants)" - perhaps not realizing that in the not-so-distant future, the now-obvious explanation would no longer be needed! Overall in fine condition, with moderate toning and some skipping. The autograph and stamps remain strong. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
