The artwork was created to be used in conjunction with the song to raise money for various charities. The song was originally recorded by a group of singers, among them Beyoncé Knowles, Celine Dion, Luther Vandross, Mariah Carey, and Usher, following the September 11, 2001, attack on the United States.
“What More Can I Give” was scheduled for release as a charity single in the hope that $50 million would be raised to aid the survivors and the families of victims of the terrorist attack. The single was never released but was finally made available to the public as a digital download in 2003 with proceeds going to various children’s charities. Jackson used this original artwork, created for the song, in conjunction with the “Michael Jackson Once in a Lifetime Event” held at his Neverland Valley Ranch in California in 2003.
