A Genius Mind Never Rests, Pasteur Summons His White Horse And Coachman

Autographed note signed and dated July 22, 1876, one page, 5.25” x 7.75,” in French, at the conclusion of an ALS by a carriage driver to Pasteur. The unsigned note and calculations were penned by Pasteur below a letter from a carriage driver regarding a fare. Within the letter, the driver explains to Pasteur that his current cost for a journey by carriage is 8 francs, not including the additional expenses of the horse and young boy.

Pasteur’s notes, presumably made in preparation for a more formal reply, indicates that he will respond in writing to his correspondent agreeing to the cost of 8 francs and offering 75 centimes for horse oats. He also adds that he would prefer the white horse, as the other does not cope well with flies, and that he would require a covered carriage in the event of rain. In fine condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds, pin holes to upper left corner, and areas of mild toning. A scarce and desirable Pasteur offering featuring calculations.
