SCARCE document signed as president, signed “Z. Taylor,” one page, 21.25" x 16.5", December 26, 1849. A four-language ship’s papers (English, Spanish, French and Dutch) issued to “Timothy Hinland master and commander of the Bark called Cantin Packet…lying at present in the port of New Bedford bound for Pacific Guam and laden with provisions and utensils for a whaling voyage.” Signed in the right panel by Taylor and countersigned by Secretary of State John M. Clayton. In overall excellent condition with a clean surface and crisp printing and penmanship. Affixed on the left edge to a cardstock backing for additional support. The seals are intact and only slightly worn. Any Taylor presidential document is quite uncommon, as he served only 16 months before he died suddenly on July 9, 1850. Of the limited supply of presidential documents in circulation, this is one of just a couple 4-Language Ship's Papers that we've seen. Accompanied by a full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
