Iron meteorite, IIIAB Champagne-Ardenne, France, found 1968. Complete laboratory-prepared etched end cut. Weighing 616.8 grams and measuring 94 mm x 82 mm x 34 mm.

Saint-Aubin is a rare European iron meteorite, first discovered in France in 1968 by farmers ploughing a field. It’s classified as an ungrouped octahedrite, meaning it doesn’t fit into any existing iron meteorite class.

It took months of precision laboratory work to cut, polished, etch, and meticulously stabilize this valuable material. Saint-Aubin exhibits an exquisite, fine and highly geometric Widmanstätten pattern, and this end cut also boasts an notable iron sulphide inclusion. Other features include Neumann lines and schriebersite needles. Schriebersite is a rare nickel-iron phosphide mineral that is only found in a single location on Earth (Greenland), but is found in several iron meteorites.

Accompanied by an Aerolite Meteorites COA. Aerolite, one of the world’s most well-respected meteorite companies, was founded by Geoff Notkin, who famously starred in the TV show “Meteorite Men.”
