Here is an exceedingly scarce original copy of Kenny Loggins’ and Jim Messina’s 1971 debut album “Sittin’ In” signed by Loggins, Messina and the entire band. Loggins has signed “Peace, Ken Loggins”, Messina has added “Pattie, I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it. Love Jim Messina”, quite humorously, John Clarke has signed “Shit, Jon Clarke”, Lester "Al" Garth has signed “Alan”, “Love always, Larry Sims” and ”Pat with love Merel Bregante”. The entire band has signed beautifully in blue ballpoint. There is a small hole punch at the lower right hand corner indicating this is was used for promotional purposes, and not for sale.
“Sittin’ In” began as a solo effort by Kenny Loggins at the onset of his career. Jim Messina, formerly of Buffalo Springfield and Poco, was with Columbia Records, serving as an independent producer when he met Loggins. In the course of producing Loggins' work, Messina composed several songs and provided backing vocals and guitar, leading to the album's full title, “Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina Sittin' In”. Considered by many to be the duo’s finest hour, the album yielded several classic songs including, "Nobody But You", "Vahevala,", "Danny's Song" and "House at Pooh Corner", the song that ultimately secured Loggins his recording contract.
It is incredibly rare to find this classic album vintage-signed at the time of its release (circa 1971) by Loggins and Messina, and the entire band. To date, this is the only example we have ever seen! The original album cover shows a medium amount of wear and some light staining but still looks fine. The original disc is included.
