In pencil with blue ink additions on an 8.5" x 11" sheet of lined, yellow paper. Thirteen lines in total, consisting of three fragmentary verses: "Operator help me please / Call my baby she's way overseas / You've got my number & I'm on my knees / I miss her oh so bad / Operator help me please / Call my baby overseas / Time is a wasting oh so fast / Operator help me please / Get thru to my baby overseas / Times a wastin [sic] oh so fast / Help me get her on the phone / Been too/so long (Since I ain't her the sound of her) her voice / noise / Hello baby". Using this example and SRV's other fragment of "Telephone Song" currently running in this auction, you can watch the creative process at work. Many ideas found in the lyrics would find their way to the finished song. Some modest toning to the edges of the paper with some minor chipping along the right edge, otherwise in excellent condition.
