This beautiful limited edition colorized photographic print picturing the iconic "Shoeless" Joe Jackson was made from an original negative of Charles M. Conlon, the preeminent baseball photographer from 1904 – 1942. This high quality print measures a massive 20 X 24. On the bottom margin of the print, it is numbered 469/975 and embossed with the trademark "Charles Conlon Collection." Jackson is pictured in a Cleveland Naps (Indians) uniform before playing with the Chicago White Sox where he led them to a World Series title in 1917 but in 1919 was named as taking part in the famed "Black Sox" scandal to fix that years World Series. Conlon, while working for the "World Telegraph," "Baseball Magazine" and "The Sporting News" immortalized baseball's greatest players through his photography beginning with his very first subject, New York Giants pitching immortal Christy Mathewson. Conlon's 1910 photograph of Ty Cobb (Detroit Tigers) stealing third base against the New York Highlanders (later became the New York Yankees) is one of the most recognized photographs in sports history. This photo displays some light yellowing around the white borders but is otherwise fine.
