Offered here is a letter, dated 1814, handwritten and signed by the sixth President of the United States. The front of the envelope and the letter are affixed to the front of a 9" x 11.5" piece of thick cardboard. One the back side, there is an engraved image of Adams. This is a very rare piece! The letter reads: "The Bearer of this letter is Mr. G. M. Dallas, who goes to ? sometime in England, where he has family relations. -- From the communications in some of your late letters, I am uncertain whether the dispatching of Cartels from England to the United States has not been entirely stopped. I venture however to enclose letters for America, which I will thank you to forward when there may be an opportunity. I am with much respect, sir, your very h'ble a ab'l servant. John Quincy Adams." In fine condition with some toning and staining to the parchment as well as the cardboard backing. See images for details.
