The Final Papers That Sat on The Yankee Legend's Desk!

Grouping of handwritten notations and writings by Thurman Munson, c.1979. Recognized as a warrior on the field, Munson's hard-nosed style of play and off field leadership reinforced his position as the Captain of the New York Yankees. Though the emodiment of professional baseball, Thurman Munson was a man of many interests. According to his widow, Diana Munson, one of Thurman's favorite evening pastimes was to jot down various writings and "doodles" in relation to his many activities. The offered lot includes eleven (11) total pages (legal size) of notations, doodles and numbers, with content ranging from real estate holdings, client contacts, and names such as Bob Lemon and Ed Sullivan. Most interestingly, Thurman has "signed" his name in blue ink on one of the pages and again on the same page with his last name only. Hauntingly, just below the two autographs is the date of "Aug. 3rd" which has been underlined three times by Munson. Although it is unclear why this date is written, or for that matter underlined, it does represent the day after Munson's tragic accident. Originating from the original Fan Fest auction that showcased the Munson estate relics from Diana Munson and accompanied by an Auction Style Letter of Authenticity from that auction from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
