Offered here is a Presidential Naval Appointment dated March 16th, 1847, and has the original seal still intact. Polk is appointing William Shuttlewroth to the rank of First Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. It is also signed by Secretary of the Navy, John Y. Mason. The document measures 15" x 18.5" and is in overall fine condition, with vertical and horizontal folds and some very light toning. This item is accompanied by a Full Letter of Authenticity from Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
