Few signatures are sought after quite like that of America's 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. As the American Civil War raged across the country, President Abraham Lincoln would unite the Union in arguably it's roughest time as a young nation. Ultimately his push for change would be what caused others to seek his life, leaving the United States in shock on April 15th, 1865 as Lincoln would be assassinated. Due to his short lived Presidency, handwritten notes and signatures such as this offering remain extremely desirable in the hobby. Penned just as the Civil War was commencing in late 1861, offered here is an original November 8, 1861 dated endorsement note reading "Respectfully submitted to the Treasury Department - A. Lincoln", completed entirely in the hand of the revered President in steel tip pen. Overall in excellent condition with a brightness to the clipping seldom seen on documents of its age. The future of the country was in turmoil at this time, but there is an unsurprising strength and steadiness to Lincoln's penmanship, alluding to his confidence in eventual victory for the Union. Authenticated by Beckett Authentication Services (BAS) with an incredible grade of GEM MINT 10! Accompanied by a full Letter of Grading & Authenticity.
