Stevie Ray Vaughan is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of blues music, and one of the most important musicians in the revival of blues in the 1980s. Despite a mainstream career that spanned only seven years, Vaughan eventually became recognized among musicians as the future standard for success and promise in blues. By the time Vaughan and his band, Double Trouble, were ready to embark on their Live Alive tour, he had reached his peak of substance abuse and gone through a treatment program. Although he was nervous about performing while sober, he received encouragement from his bandmates and fans and opened each concert speaking about the dangers of substance abuse. The nine leg tour included 10 shows in Canada in 1987 and 1988. Offered here is a Canadian immigration document giving Vaughan entry into the country from May 5 through November 5, 1988. He played four shows in a row in Canada from May 5-10, so this was likely the document he needed in order to be eligible to travel and perform his final shows there. Signed by "Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan" at the bottom along with a passport photograph of the musician. In fine condition.
