Bridging the gap between Ruth and DiMaggio, the 1935 New York Yankees would hold their own, providing a good transition between one superstar and the next. Becoming the "new" face of the franchise, Lou Gehrig would assume a role not needed of him while Ruth was on hand, providing leadership & a veteran presence for the transitional squad. This new role is apparent even now with Gehrig's upgraded spot on multi-signed baseballs. While he had previously stepped aside to allow Ruth to sign on the sweet spot, Gehrig's autograph was featured front and center starting in the 1935 season. Offered here is an ultra-rare team signed Yankee League baseball featuring 20 members of the famed squads' autographs in bold black ink. Notables include: Lou Gehrig, Bill Dickey, Lefty Gomez, Joe Sewell, Red Ruffing, Frank Crosetti, and Johnny Murphy. The baseball itself stands in fine condition with scattered age spotting throughout the sphere. Authenticated by PSA/DNA with a full letter of authenticity.
