With insight and vision that knew no limits, Thomas Edison held 1,093 U.S. patents in his name, forever changing the world and its course by inventing (among countless other things) the light bulb, the motion picture camera and the phonograph. This vintage 7.5" x 9.75" photograph has been nearly perfectly signed by Edison, "To J.W. Verkerk, Thos. A Edison" in black-ink steel strip fountain pen. Virtually every last character has been executed to show uniform pressure and dimensions, as if they were printed by a machine. The photograph is overall in fine condition with some handling wear and surface impressions. Edison’s penning has been graded MINT 9 and is encapsulated by the experts at Beckett Authentication Services (BAS).
